Pastor/Prophet D. M. Phillips, Sr.
Prophet D. M. Phillips is an anointed, and appointed, Prophet, dynamic Teacher, Preacher and deliverer of the word of God. Pastor Phillips is the ninth of eleven children growing up in San Fran and graduated from Galileo High, and even today continues his education for higher learning. . Pastor Phillips loved the Lord at an early age and in the mid 60’s he lead his entire family to the 2nd Union Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. W. T. Adams. In 1971 he was invited to a prayer service at the Greater Little Manger Church of God in Christ, where he was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of the late Supt. A. Hines, Sr., his love for God spilled over into his junior high school, where he was instrumental in many of his classmates accepting Christ many of whom are now saved, preachers, musicians, and even pastors.
In the summer of 1973 Pastor Phillips accepted his calling into the gospel ministry having many opportunities to preach locally, in the late 70’s God blessed Pastor Phillips along with one of his friend, Apostle Darryl DeWayne Christmas to organize a young evangelistic Crusade Team known as the “Son’s of Thunder”, together they traveled and conducted many revivals inside and outside the San Francisco bay area including for such anointed leaders as Bishop G. Ross, Bishop E. E. Cleveland, Bishop M. Mathis, and Pastor Charles Bell, just to name a few.
In 1974 he became fond of the Apostle L. C. Patton of the Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, and adopted him as his god-son. He continued traveling across throughout the United States preaching and often sharing pulpit as father & son team with his god-father, the late Bishop L. C. Patton.
In February of 1989 Pastor Phillips along with his wife, Lady Kim Phillips organized the Celebration of Life COGIC, at 2245 Geneva Avenue in San Francisco, this ministry began with three members and within the first week of services twelve new members were saved and added to the church, through his ministry his mother, sisters, aunt, and cousins accepted Holiness as a new way of life. God continued to bless this ministry. After outgrowing their first building another location was offered to them so they moved to 2660 Geneva which was twice the space. In 1998 the church relocated to Oakland, California.
He has served with Northern California 1st Jurisdiction with the Music Department and after moving to Northeast Jurisdiction has served as District Superintendent of the Sunlight District for Seven Years and State Minister of Music for four years, which opened doors for him to serve in the National Church of God in Christ Music Department under the leadership of Evangelist Lavonia Whitley, and Dr. Iris Stevenson
In 1999, Prophet Phillips was requested by the late Supt. J. Grant to come assist him at the Greater Gethsemane Church and after the sudden home going of Supt. Jessie Grant, Pastor Phillips was appointed by Bishop W. Wyatt Hamilton Pastor of Greater Gethsemane COGIC.
Pastor Prophet D. M. Phillips has been called by God to teach and preach the life changing Word of God. He often states, "Our church is the place where you can experience the life changing power and presence of God." Under his leadership were a vital beacon with community-based outreach services, which include clothing and food pantries, after school tutoring and mentorship for under privileged children and teens, and a Drug and Alcoholic assistance program and much more.
He has the heart of God which manifests in his life and the lives of his God given flock. His love for God, the people of God, and the lost, has led him to establish an annual Thanksgiving outreach designed to demonstrate that love. In pastor's words, "The purpose of the church is to meet the needs of the community. as well as leading people to establishing a personal relationship with Christ." In 2012 the prophet heard the voice of the Lord, and therefore the name was changed to the "Greater Grace Temple Church, The Worship Center. In 2019 the church relocated to San Leandro, Ca. purchasing a new church edifice with $1.00 down to open escrow.
An Amazing God. During the beginning of the pandemic, he hosted a food program which a feeding of 3,000 families weekly, and continues to feed thousands every week. The Prophet ministers the word of God with such power, authority, and conviction that it changes the lives of all who hear him. In his own words, "We will win the lost, at any cost.
